Some Great Fairy Tales

Most of us have grown up with the classic fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, Brothers Grimm, Aesop etc. You may have read them yourselves or perhaps your mum or dad read them to you as bedside stories. Of course, nowadays, you could have also watched these stories in the movies or on TV. These lovely tales are part of our lives and as such remain classic not only because they are good tales but most have a moral. If you had to pick your favorite fairy stories of all time what do you think they would be? Here are a few of mine.

Rapunzel. When I was a kid, this was a great favorite of mine, possibly because I dreamed of having long hair like Rapunzel. The particular story was written by the Brothers Grimm. It tells of a young girl, Rapunzel, who was held prisoner in a tower. Her captor was an enchantress. In order to enter the tower the enchantress would have to ask Rapunzel to lower her long golden locks so that she could climb up. Of course, there was a handsome prince ready to rescue her. In order to stop Rapunzel escaping, the enchantress cut off her locks. Like every good fairy tale, it all ends happily.

The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg. This is one of the best known of Aesop’s fables about a couple who had the great fortune of owning an goose that laid golden eggs everyday. Stupidly, this couple aren’t content and, supposing the goose to be full of gold inside, killed it. They mistakenly thought they could collect all the gold at once! Of course, when they had cut the goose open, it was just like any other goose – no gold inside. There is definitely a strong moral to this story that greed can destroy something that was good and if you try and take too much too soon, you can destroy everything.

Goldilocks. The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears is about a girl with golden hair who goes into the three bears’ house. It’s a cautionary tale. The three bears – mum, dad and baby – are all out. Goldilocks makes herself at home. She falls asleep in the baby bear’s bed. The bears return to find her there – asleep. She gets such as fright that she jumps up and runs away never to come back. Every parent’s nightmare is their child wandering off and getting hurt. So, this tale is bound to resonate strongly with parents.

Why not drop by my Goldilocks costume site to check out some very attractive costumes.

2 Little Known Ghoulish Characters You Can Use For Halloween Cards

September 2, 2010 by Lifestyle Editor

70s clothes

You are already knowledgeable about the popular Halloween characters such as ghosts, goblins, ghouls, witches, vampires, scarecrows, etc. In this report I will let you know of two little known Halloween characters that not many are intimate with! Use them for a scary change in this year’s Halloween cards!

1. Mummies: Mummies are traditionally associated with the country of Egypt, and rightfully so, for the concern with mummies originated with the Egyptians. In the ancient age the practice of mummification of the dead was very fashionable. Actually, mummification, a ritual done to; the dead, was reserved only for men of high importance, like kings, queens, etc.

The fear of; actually started in this practice. Later on further studies were executed on the process of mummification and then a new fear took over: the concern with being buried alive!

In the 20th century Hollywood moviemakers took full advantage of this;mummy fear; by producing movies around that style. This further entrenched the concern with mummies in the minds of ordinary people!

Compared to ghosts and vampires, the mummy is not a fashionable Halloween figure. Only very few individuals use it as their invitation card’s theme. Some people even use "mummy" costumes and decorations to celebrate Halloween!

2. Zombies: The zombie, or the "living dead" was far from popular until Hollywood film director George A. Romero iconized it in his chilling 1968 movie called "Night of the Living Dead". From then on zombies have turned a family of their own, joining the list of scary creatures that individuals are generally scared of!

Even so, in comparison to most other Halloween characters, zombies are almost real! In point of fact, recent reports have noticed that Zombies used to form an integral an area of the Voodoo practice. As reported by other studies, any living person can behave like a zombie if he consumes certain powerful drugs that are believed to produce this effect!

So, in case the mummies don’t inspire you, or if you don’t feel they would make ideal characters for your Halloween cards, sample the zombies. A word of advice: youngsters are easily scared by zombies, so if yours is a children’s party or in case children are also invited to the party then it is better not have anything related to zombies as part of party decorations, Halloween costumes and of course the invitation cards!

As you can see, when it comes to Halloween you aren’t limited to the typical ghosts and witches. Have a unique party centering around one of the two scary figures I described above, and watch the guests truly getting horrified by the macabre party atmosphere!

Pick up practically any magazine related to health and fitness and there’s sure to be an article on stomach flattening exercises. It is no surprise, this is what individuals want, flatter stomachs. Why do many people have flatter stomachs than other people, and what are some methods to achieve this goal? These are a couple of questions that come up when the subject is addressed.

The logical factors are the diets of people, a person can’t expect to consume chocolate cake every night and still have a flat abdomen. The other obvious answer to this question is what people are performing with their stomachs.

Some people spend time every day doing stomach flattening workouts, while others do not, they might consume food correctly and hope that is enough to flatten their stomachs. It is great to keep in mind that there is a difference between building great abdominal muscles and flattening the abdomen, even though they are very similar. The person has to decide what objective is wanted for themselves. Abdomen flattening exercises will usually consist of moves in which the individual concentrates on sucking in their stomach, trying to “hollow it out” as they perform every move. If the physical exercise is intended to build muscle but not necessarily flatten the stomach, the exercise won’t stress this point. Every exercise although will construct muscle within the abdomen, it is just a matter of what the person’s primary goal is as they do physical exercise and choose which exercises to do.

One thing to keep in mind as a person works on stomach flattening exercise is that the routine he or she does should include workouts that are meant to flatten each area of the abdomen, and not just concentrate on 1 section, otherwise the person won’t get the outcomes he or she is searching for.

A flatter abdomen can mean more confidence, much better health and much more overall strength. It’s a reasonable goal to want to have a flat abdomen, and isn’t unobtainable unless there’s a specific medical reason for not being able to complete stomach flattening workouts. Besides knowing which physical exercise will bring about the desired outcomes, an individual just needs the determination to follow through, remembering that a flatter abdomen won’t come overnight, it takes time, energy and dedication, but the outcomes are worth it.

Outdoor Privacy Screens – What Is The Correct Garden Style For You

The amount of room you have available will  greatly influence your type and design of back garden. Should you live in a rural region and are lucky enough to have a big garden you will probably be able to divide up the room and create various areas for various kinds of back garden. If on the other hand you live in a city centre and only have a little region, then your choices are greatly reduced.

An additional point to consider may be the amount of totally free time you have available to sustain your garden. If you have a demanding job or a large family to take care of, you might discover that trying to cope with a big intricate garden is too much to cope with. Large flower gardens for example can be really time consuming to maintain and to keep them looking their greatest, as numerous flowering plants need continual dead-heading to prolong their flowering period.

Your fitness level might also influence the type and design of your garden. For those who have heart difficulties or breathing difficulties for example, you most likely wouldn’t want to be digging over a large vegetable plot each year. If you’re confined to a wheel chair or suffer with back problems then you might need to think about having raised beds that you can reach easily.

One other factor you may wish to think about is the actual purpose of the back garden?

Do you wish to attract wildlife?
Produce a space for entertaining friends and loved ones?
Possess a safe area for your children to play?
A peaceful place to relax?
Create a productive garden to feed the loved ones?

When thinking about the style of your garden, remember that it’s feasible to incorporate various back garden types into one back garden. Numerous vegetables have attractive foliage and can be grown in amongst your ornamental plants. In fact organic gardeners will often plant certain ornamentals in their vegetable plots in order to attract pests away from their vegetable crops.

In future articles well take a look at 6 of the most common styles:

Organic Garden
Raised Back garden
Container Garden
Formal Garden
Wildlife Back garden
Water Back garden

By considering these points and deciding what you wish to use the back garden for you’ll hopefully prevent starting something that you will later regret.

GIVE SOMEONE AN ADRENALIN RUSH ONLINE

September 1, 2010 by Lifestyle Editor

A hectic life isn’t a good enough reason to forget important occasions.  Making a phone call, sending an email or texting a personal message to acknowledge a birthday or other special event shows that you care – and giving a gift is the cherry on the top.  With so much on people’s plates, it’s not always possible to find the time to go shopping for gifts, but the internet has all the answers

The wide world of online gift certificates brings the mall to your desktop.  the versatility, convenience and flexibility it brings means you never have to waste time searching the stores again   And if you want to ramp up the convenience even further, then you may want to investigate the exciting and fun world of adventure or activity gifts – available from specialised online retailers.

What are adventure gift vouchers?

Essentially, when you purchase an adventure gift voucher online, you purchase participation in a selected activity across a huge range of interests (for example a day spa gifts, dancing lessons, horse riding, yacht cruises or a fashion makeover  gift) – or you can purchase a voucher which enables the recipient to make their own choice of activity.

How does the system work?

Various businesses list their services/activities/adventures etc on the website of the online retailer, which acts as their agent   The better online gift shops will carry a wide range of options on their website, catering for all ages, occasions and interests

Are the prices competitive ?

Of course!  An established online shop could even be able to offer activities cheaper than buying through regular channels because of the economies of scale.

How are online payments made?

Payment is quick, convenient and most importantly, safe and secure.  Payment is usually made via the secure e-commerce pathway using credit cards, but some retailers also have cheque or direct debit payment options.

What is the process of delivery of the voucher?

There are generally three ways of receiving the voucher – via email (which can then be printed), regular mail or express mail (which may cost a bit extra).

Is there a difference between a gift certificate and an adventure certificate?

Think of a gift certificate like a travellers’ cheque .  They’re a credit for the online shop’s website and can be used as part or full payment to buy a gift experience.  An adventure gift voucher is basically the ticket for a chosen activity such as surfing lessons, a scenic flight or hot air ballooning gift, corporate gifts or team building gifts.

How do I go about booking a date

The supplier’s details should be provided on the voucher that you receive.  Before any details are given out, an activation code is usually required. Then all that’s required is to book a date with the supplier.  That’s the beauty of receiving an online experience voucher– you can enjoy it at a time that suits you. The supplier will also recommend special clothing, shoes etc if requiredyou’re your chosen adventure.

How long are the certificates valid for?

Most certificates are valid for six months from date of issue, but this can vary between suppliers.  They are also generally transferable to another person prior to activation, so they offer even greater flexibility.

Where can the gifts be used?

It depends on the location of the retailer, but the website should make everything clear.  It’s easy to give a gift to someone on the other side of the world – all it takes is a quick search on the internet to find a suitable online retailer covering the country or area in question.  Say you wanted to buy someone an exciting gift in Melbourne, Australia but you lived on the other side of the world in Norway… you could buy them an adventure gift certificate with a few clicks of the mouse and voila! .

Can a voucher be transferred?

They can usually be transferred before the actual booking has been made.

Another option for flexibility is to exchange a voucher for a different activity – but not for cash.  It’s up to each different retailer as to what their limitations and options are.

An online activity voucher is the perfect present for any occasion.
